Help with Pinokio

An iPhone web browser with a trackpad-style cursor for precise text selection.

The fastest path: open an issue on GitHub.

Bug reports, feature requests, and questions all live on GitHub Issues. Public, searchable, and you'll see other users' workarounds. Include your iPhone model, iOS version, and a short description. A screen recording is gold.

Frequently asked

How do I select text?
  1. Drag a finger inside the trackpad area at the bottom of the screen — the orange cursor moves over the page.
  2. Position the cursor on the first word you want.
  3. Tap Start. That word becomes selected.
  4. Drag the cursor to the last word.
  5. Tap End. The selection extends.
  6. Tap Copy. The text is on your clipboard.
Selection isn't working on a particular page

Try a different selection algorithm. Open Settings → Selection → Start method and pick another option:

If the page uses user-select: none, also enable Settings → Selection → Force user-select CSS.

Scroll is going the wrong direction

Open Settings → Scroll input → Invert scroll direction. This flips both the right-edge strip and the two-finger scroll together — and their inertia.

Scroll doesn't work at all on a page

Open Settings → Scroll input → Dispatch and switch to Native UIScrollView only. Some pages override scroll events and block the JavaScript scroll path. The native option always works on the outer page.

The trackpad is in my way

Tap the small in the top-right corner of the trackpad to hide it. A small "▴ trackpad" pill stays at the bottom edge — tap to bring it back.

You can also drag the small notch at the top (portrait) or leading edge (landscape) to reposition the trackpad. Position is remembered separately for portrait, landscape, and iPad.

How do I open a new tab?

Tap the gear icon in the URL bar → Tabs+ New tab. Swipe horizontally between Tabs and Bookmarks. Swipe a tab row left to close it.

How do I bookmark a page?

Tap the gear icon in the URL bar → Bookmarks+ Bookmark current page. Swipe a bookmark left to delete.

Find on page

Tap the gear icon in the URL bar → Find on page. Type your query, then use the previous/next arrows. WebKit highlights matches inline.

Does Pinokio collect any data?

No. Pinokio has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and ships no third-party tracking SDKs. Your browsing stays on your device. See the full privacy policy.

Can I make Pinokio my default browser?

Not in v1.0. Default-browser status requires a managed entitlement from Apple that takes weeks to obtain. We'll add it in a later release if there's demand. In the meantime, you can long-press a link in another app and choose "Open in Pinokio" if Pinokio is registered for the URL scheme.
